I’m Katie, a writer from North East England, currently based in London.
In my full-time job, I’m a Stories and Content Specialist at an international humanitarian non-profit, where I research, gather and tell compelling human-interest stories from communities around the world. As a freelance writer, my main areas of focus are travel stories, off-beat and adventure travel, and the intersection of tourism and international development.
My travels have taken me to six continents, over 50 countries and on many adventures, from camping above a watering hole in Zambia, to getting lost in Taman Negara rainforest, and escaping a wombat attack in Tasmania.
My writing focuses largely on Europe and South / Southeast Asia, where I have travelled extensively, and Australia, where I have lived and worked. I particularly enjoy sharing stories from lesser known locations and communities, and centring the voices of people I meet.
I hold a first class honours degree in Religion, Culture & Society from Durham University and a MSc in International Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London.
