I’m Katie, a freelance writer currently based in Central America. I cover travel, culture, and human-interest stories, with a particular interest in women’s voices and sustainability.
Before going freelance, I spent over a decade in the international non-profit sector, including senior roles at ActionAid. There, I developed and produced stories from communities around the world, working with local partners to research, commission, and shape stories and content for UK and global audiences.
My background continues to inform my work. I’m interested in stories grounded in people’s lived realities, and in approaches to travel that are conscious, equitable and beneficial to communities with tourism economies.
Alongside my writing, I take on freelance projects across copywriting, editing, and content production, particularly with non-profits and organisations working in social impact.
I hold a first class honours degree in Religion, Culture & Society from Durham University and an MSc in International Development Studies from the London School of Economics.
